How to make unique-only item types... (2024)

Me and a friend decided to make a Final Fantasy Mod. In the game, there are no "unique" items. There are just, well, items. I want to know how to make weapons that only spawn as unique, such as an item called:

Ultima Weapon - Unique name
Ultima Weapon - Weapon type

How can I get the item to only spawn as a unique item? I don't want to find something such as:

Dire Ripper
Ultima Weapon

EDIT: By the way, where can I find an item pack that has a sword that looks like Ultima Weapon? Don't want it looking dumb 8)

Well, i'm not 100% sure what you mean, but i'll try to answer.
If i understand correctly, you want a brand new item that can only spawn unique, well if that's what you want, it is quite easy to do.

You have to enter a "1" into the columns "unique" and "skipname".
That will make it so that item will always spawn unique, and will skip the base item name, just displaying the unique name.

P.S, if you want any help with this mod, I would love to help (though not big parts, since i'm already working on my own mod), i'm probably one of the biggest FF fans on this forum.

EDIT: And for the weapon graphic, you would most likely have to design the inv file yourself, or try to borrow it from some other mod, or something like that to get it, but it wouldn't be too tough (if your good with graphics) since the weapon isn't very intricate.

If you want to help, then GO AHEAD! I am only just getting started, and wont be able to work on it alot now, ( 9th grade is very time consuming ) but over the weekends I can do alot. I am very open to suggestions, ideas, etc. My friend is making a list of ALL the final fantasy items he can get from his guides, etc.

One of my ( HARD AS CRAP ) ideas is to do what Joel did converting the characters to different types! I remember there was a Final Fantasy 8 for computer... maybe I can use the character models some how... I don't know, its just a vague idea.
